No. Teak that is placed outdoors can and should be left untreated. Oiling is not a question of wood protection, but a question of taste. Oiling makes the wood darker and regular treatment prevents patination. However, you should only oil furniture that is under cover because the rain washes out the oil, causing the wood to turn grey in places: the furniture will become stained! If you want to oil, please follow the relevant instructions in the Care section.

All of them! Our teak furniture is resistant to water, heat and frost thanks to the high rubber content of teak wood. Here's another tip: teak does not need a protective coating. However, twice a year teak furniture should be cleaned of dust and other dirt using warm soapy water and a root brush (see also care). For our wicker furniture, we only use materials that are completely weatherproof and resistant to a very wide range of temperatures (for example, Viro® material from -95° C to + 85° C). So it doesn't matter whether you want to use HOMEofTEAK furniture in the winter cold of the Zugspitze or the summer heat of a Canary Island - HOMEofTEAK furniture can handle it all. Covers or tarpaulins also offer protection against dirt. For the covers and tarpaulins, you should use a material that allows the wood to breathe - such as our premium covers (see also covers ).

A summer canopy will accompany you all day long. It protects you from the dazzling rays of the sun during the day and keeps the warmth above the seating area for a long time in the evening. You can choose to place the summer canopy in the middle of a table - provided the table has a hole for an umbrella - or place it next to the seating area. Depending on your requirements, the summer canopy can be made in different colors. You can find out about the most important differences in our umbrellas section. For safety reasons, every parasol should be placed in a suitable parasol base. You can find such bases and umbrella stands in our umbrella stands section.

The patina forms during the first year. How quickly depends on the weather. In dry summers, not so much happens. If it rains a lot, the teak turns grey more quickly. And it depends on the location. If wind and sun accelerate the drying process, the patina does not form as quickly as where the moisture lasts longer.

Teak is a natural material and as such, fine cracks in the grain may appear on the face of components and then disappear as the weather changes and the moisture content of the wood changes. Such fine cracks are normal, especially on heavier furniture items, and will not affect the life or usability of your furniture.

We only use marine grade stainless steel and solid brass on our furniture. None of these materials will rust or deteriorate with age.

Yes, HOMEofTEAK voluntarily gives you a 4-year guarantee on all furniture from the date of purchase. Since we do not have any "seasonal products" in our own range, we have had some of our product families in our range since 2004 (e.g. Florida, Royal, Madison, Elegance, Lorraine, Trinity, etc.). In fact, customers who have bought products from these furniture families now have a guarantee of over 20 years (which is often used). This is what we mean by sustainability. However, we reserve the right to make minor design changes and changes to product care. Color variations are also possible for products made from wickerwork, coverings and textiles.

All our chairs and tables are made to a standard that ensures the correct distance between the seat and the top of the table, so you can always sit comfortably while eating. You can therefore safely combine any of our chairs with tables made by us.

Teak that is used outdoors "works", that is, it swells a little when it is wet and shrinks a little when it is dry. The gaps in the table surface give the individual wooden strips just enough space so that no damage occurs to the tenons and glues when the wood is worked. Rainwater and meltwater can also run off better through the slots and no large puddles form on the table surface.

Due to our large range of colors, we can only produce editions in special colors or made to measure after we have received the order (it is simply not possible to keep the editions in all 96 colors in stock). Delivery of such editions can therefore take up to 12 weeks - 6 weeks of which are spent on sea transport from production in Indonesia to our warehouse.

Sometimes during transport at sea - due to the extreme climatic conditions in the sea freight container - condensation forms, which then combines with the remains of the sanding dust on the surface of the furniture to form a light grey layer. The easiest way to remove this layer is to use a rough sponge or scouring pad when it is dry (e.g. the dark, rough side of a kitchen sponge). Please also let the sponge dry - you will quickly see that the honey-brown colour of the natural teak wood quickly appears underneath. The grey layer has no effect on the quality and durability.

Some pieces are delivered fully assembled (folding tables, folding chairs, stacking chairs, deck chairs and stools), while others require minor assembly work (tables, loungers, benches and fixed chairs). In such cases, assembly instructions are included in each box. We can also do the assembly work for you and assemble the furniture here - however, this increases the transport costs considerably because the assembled furniture takes up a lot more space in the truck and the shipping company has to charge up to four times the price for this.

For Florida and Hampton loungers, Hampton, Florida, Denver, Comforteck, Moselle, Florence and Elegance table: screwdriver and open-end wrench (Hampton only).

For the tables Briston, Fides, Florence, Planka, Hampton and Zilart: open-end wrench.

For the Ellen, Mood, Katta and Stor tables: Allen key (included).

For Florida, Comforteck and Trent Foot Rest: Size 5 Allen key (as with many Ikea furniture - so you probably already have a key of this type at home anyway).

For all benches and fixed chairs: screwdriver, small saw and sandpaper - use the saw to saw off the wooden dowels at the end and then sand them smooth with the sandpaper

For umbrellas and sunroofs: here only the fabric covering has to be pulled on and then the umbrella tip has to be fixed with a screwdriver

Wicker furniture: are fully assembled and just need to be unpacked.

Many parts of our furniture are easy to replace. Based on your description (it is best to send us clear digital photos to beratung@homeofteak.ch by email or post), we can send them to you and you can repair your furniture yourself on site. If the repair is more difficult, we can collect your furniture from you and prepare a cost estimate. You can then decide whether you want us to repair your furniture.

Yes. Simply send us an email to sales@homeofteak.ch listing your additional requests and the set you want and we will send you an offer with your special price. The same applies if you need fewer chairs than are included in our sets.

Yes, we offer a special 2-year guarantee on all teak furniture. This covers any faults arising from faulty materials or workmanship under normal use. Special conditions or exceptions to this guarantee may apply to some items if they are intended for commercial use or for use by the general public; please contact us for details.

You are also welcome to pick up the furniture yourself and get your furniture as quickly as possible - picking it up yourself costs nothing, so there are no storage fees as is often the case

Please check before you arrive to make sure that all the furniture will fit in your vehicle - unfortunately, it happens again and again that customers have to leave empty-handed because the furniture does not fit in the car as planned. You can ask us about the dimensions of the boxes.

If you pick up the furniture yourself, you can either pay in advance by bank transfer - then you can drive to the warehouse in Seewen immediately after receipt of payment and pick up your furniture -

or you can pay for the furniture in cash when you pick it up at our office in Alpnach (unfortunately, payment by debit or credit card is not yet possible) and then you can pick up your furniture in Seewen.

Since it is part of our company philosophy to offer high-quality goods at the best possible price, we have decided to only deliver against advance payment and thus avoid all payment defaults, dunning procedures, legal fees and additional accounting costs with absolute certainty. We pass on the cost savings resulting from advance payment (approx. 4%) directly to our customers through our low prices - so everyone benefits and we avoid 99.5% of honest customers co-financing the fraud of the other 0.5% through the price of the goods.
